Victoria Ranger and Angela Brown “Life Work Leadership Compassion Tour 2016”

Compassion Tour – Victoria Ranger and Angela Brown presented to the Life Work Leadership class of 2016.

Ranger Technical Resources and Dillard Elementary School were selected by the City of Ft. Lauderdale’s City Manager Lee Feldman as the City’s choice to be used as an influential Case Study within their Compassion Tour for the Lifework Leadership of South Florida.  On January 8, 2016 Ms. Ranger and Ms. Brown presented the Ranger Good Works program to over 122 business leaders and city officials describing how the partnership between the public and private sector has made a positive change by altering the direction of the school.  Dillard Elementary is a Broward County Public School, part of the largest school district in the United States.

District 5 School Board Member Dr. Rosalind Osgood shared with the attendees the fact that Ms. Brown had received the Prestigious Caliber Award as “Principal of the Year” for Broward County in April 2015.  Ms. Brown acknowledged Ms. Ranger’s contribution and together they received a standing ovation for their work in the community.

“The Compassion Tour was intended to engage people’s hearts, provide them with a window to become aware of actual needs within the community and inspire them to become involved!”  Amanda Forman, Program Director said “our mission was accomplished, the Ranger-Dillard story and what the team is doing is truly inspiring.”

Ms. Ranger and Ms. Brown’s shared goals are to raise awareness of the “reality of life” for a number of school children in Fort Lauderdale. They continue to encourage those within the community to realize that any act of kindness by one individual to another, especially to children, can make a difference in the world of a child.  They asked those in attendance to be generous and have the courage to lead others by helping any school with their students. There is great opportunity throughout the city of Ft. Lauderdale and everywhere in the United States to provide students with a better educational experience.

Our words of the day…..Compassion, Love and Give… To be continued!

Ranger Good Works Team

Hour of Code presented by Ranger Technical Resources & Ranger Good Works was a great success!

Hour of Code – December 2015

Ranger Good Works had a fan-tas-tech team show up to support us for the Computer Science Education Week and CODE.ORG Hour of Code initiative held at Dillard Elementary. 36 Volunteers walked out of the session proudly wearing a ‪#‎BrowardCodes‬ – I coded did you? sticker.
Without a doubt every helping hand left their assigned classrooms with a smile on their face knowing they made a big impact on our community’s children of Fort Lauderdale. Learning to code and be more informed about Computer Science is critical to our youth. In today’s world everything runs on software. The next generation will be faced with their world being focused even more on-line and digital than today. What we taught at Dillard Elementary was not only coding. Some lessons included computational thinking.  (Mathematics, logic and algorithms) The instructors focused the children on problem solving in small thought out pieces to eventually solve the bigger problem.)  The interaction with the volunteers during this initiative gave the students encouragement that they could do anything if they put their minds to it. Coding and Computational thinking are used in many different careers today.  We are proud to have been able to provide this opportunity to our chosen elementary school in the sixth largest school district in the United States. (Broward County Public Schools – Ft. Lauderdale, Florida)

Thanks to a great Team: Ranger Technical Resources, DHL, Broward College, Spelling City, Nova Southeastern University, Broward County Clerk of Courts, Sitters in a Second, Giant Titan, Merrill Lynch, C&I Studios and several other amazing companies.

Hour of Code Success Story

Hour of Code

Hour of Code Success Story

For the second year in a row, Ranger Technical Resources had great success when partnering with Code.org for the Hour of Code initiative. Over 91 million people around the world participated in this endeavor to encourage youth to learn basics of Computer Science and coding.

Last year we contributed by sending mentors to local schools and also sponsored an Hour of Code at our corporate office for forty students from Dillard Elementary School. This year, we expanded. We joined forces with a variety of local businesses that have helped Ranger take over an entire school for the Hour of Code Initiative. Our volunteers showed over eight hundred students that they can be a creator or an innovator in the field of computer science. The event was held on Monday, December 8, 2014 at Dillard Elementary School. Every student (K-5) participated and advanced their learning with the help of Ranger Good Works.

Ranger Super Coders visited Nova Southeastern University

Dillard Students Visited Nova Southeastern University

We are excited about our partnership with Nova Southeastern University and support from our community sponsors! We took 40 Ranger Super Coders on a field trip to tour the Graduate School of Computer and Information Science Department. The visit, for many of the students, was their first step onto a college campus. Our Tech Super Hero, Dean Ackerman gave the students a tour of his amazing computer collection, gave a supercharged Tech Talk, and instructed the students on how to build a solar powered robot. Afterword, we stopped off at the University Pit to be charged up with a slice of pizza. They also toured the Alvin Sherman Library to discover what resources are available to them before heading back to school.

The Heart of Neiman Marcus

On July 19, Neiman Marcus stores across the country partnered local nonprofit charities involved in the arts and helping children. Neiman Marcus Fort Lauderdale in the Galleria Mall partnered with Ranger Good Works, a nonprofit organization that provides volunteer programs and resources for local communities’ most under-resourced populations, to host a shopping event benefiting Dillard Elementary School. Performances took place by Dillard Elementary School students involved in the school groups IMPACT Girls and the D Phi E Stepping Eagles as well as dancers from the Fort Lauderdale Parks Department’s Kuumba Arts Dance Academy. Through Young At Art Museum, Dillard Elementary School students also created butterflies, which are a signature of Neiman Marcus.

TEAMWORK was Ranger Technical Resources’ word of the day this past Saturday at the Heart of Neiman Marcus event held in Fort Lauderdale. Throughout the store you could find our team members lending a helping hand to all of the guests who came out to support Ranger Good Works and Dillard Elementary School. With smiles on our faces, we all had a heartwarming story to share with others about why we enjoy supporting Dillard.

Neiman Marcus opened their doors just for us at 9am, an hour earlier then their usual store hours. This allowed us to connect with our members while doing something exciting, SHOPPING! Not only did the Ranger Tech and Ranger Good Works team raise money by selling over 100 tickets to the event, they put on their networking shoes and gained new community friends and partners!

Ten percent of ALL the merchandise sales were donated to a great cause, the start of an Art Program for 800 deserving Dillard students. Ranger Tech and Ranger Good Works suggested that day for everyone to shop till they dropped. At the end of the event, TEAMWORK really paid off! Neiman Marcus was so excited to share with us that our goal was exceeded and that Dillard Elementary School would be able to start their Art Program with an incredible amount of money!

CUDOS to Ranger Technical Resources and Ranger Good Works. We did it! WE made it happen because we all have a HEART!!
