Ranger Good Works presents: HOUR OF CODE 2018
We are preparing for Computer Science Education Week and plan to create a fan-tas-tech event for 2018!
A community partner initiative!
Once again, Ranger Technical Resources & Ranger Good Works are recruiting friends and community partners to help educate over 850students from Dillard Elementary School about the importance of Computer Science in an international coding initiative founded by Code.org. We love it when our kids receive the three T’s….time, talent and treasure. Please join our Hour of Code volunteer team this year. The kids love to see familiar faces. If you can’t join us, tell a friend who you think can. Our communities continued help in making this a great event is much needed and appreciated.
The Hour of Code will take place at Dillard Elementary on Friday, December 07, 2018.
- Show up on site 30 minutes prior to the Hour of Code initiative
- Participate in classrooms with instruction or help in the classrooms
- Work with our coordinators and the teachers from Dillard Elementary to create a successful event.
- YOU do not need to be a programmer to volunteer. You only need to be able to read and speak to the children.
- Programmers who volunteer will be assigned to the classrooms where the students are more advanced with coding.

This experience will continue to fill the students’ treasure chest full of great life experiences. In 2013 we first partnered with Code.org for the Official Hour of Code, a Global Computer Science Education Week initiative to encourage youth to learn basic coding.
“The Hour of Code is a global movement introducing tens of millions of
students worldwide to computer science, inspiring kids to learn more,
breaking stereotypes, and leaving them feeling empowered.
What is the Hour of Code?
A one-hour introduction to computer science.
The Hour of Code began is a one-hour
coding challenge to give students a fun first
introduction to computer science and has
become a global learning event, celebration,
and awareness event.
An annual global event. The Hour of Code
takes place every year during Computer
Science Education Week, the first week in
December. With a huge groundswell of support
and attention, it’s an ideal time for schools
and districts to put the spotlight on computer
science programs and expand opportunities.” Code.org
Over 100 million students around the world have participated in this initiative. As a technology solutions company Ranger Technical Resources continues to contribute by sending mentors to local schools.
Since 2014 we expanded to include the entire elementary school. Over eight hundred students from Dillard Elementary participated in a Computer Science related activity. As you can see the number of students we are encouraging has increased due to our community’s involvement.
In 2018 we will have 860 students enrolled at Dillard Elementary School. We need all of the helping hands we can to keep up the great momentum. Please join our volunteer team for the Hour of Code on Friday, December 7th. Click here to sign up. Thank you for your continued support! Volunteer today!
Most of this year’s coding activities are from CODE.ORG
