Career City 2018

Ranger Good Works is pleased to announce Career City 2018 is now taking RSVP’s for Wednesday, May 23, 2018

Please join us in bringing the “City of Ft. Lauderdale” to the students of Dillard Elementary. Students will experience firsthand what it feels like to take a walk through a safe and inviting city which has been created just for them. As they stroll through Career City, students will learn about a wide variety of industries and engage with professionals from our local businesses and organizations in a fun and inviting environment. After stepping out of Career City, they’ll take the first steps on the roadmap to their future!

{IMPORTANT FACTS }

98% of the students walk to school, are from single-parent homes and get their food intake while they are attending school. Most of the Dillard Elementary students have never traveled outside a five-mile radius of their neighborhood. Many of the students never had the opportunity to walk into a real grocery store, an office supply store, a bank, a flower shop or even a restaurant. The students are sweet, friendly and well behaved. The students have experienced a lack of exposure, they want and need a chance to learn and grow.

With your help, we can fill the streets with an exciting group of industry professionals. This is the perfect opportunity to share your success story and inspire the next generation of South Florida’s professionals. Your participation will help motivate the youth and show them that through hard work and academic achievement, professional success can be attained right down the street!

Career City 2017 was outstanding at Dillard Elementary!

What do 73 Companies x 3 =?  219 Volunteers and Community Partners Showed up to teach students about their industry.

Ranger Good Works, Dillard Elementary teachers, staff, students and I would like to personally give you a ‘heartfelt thanks’ for the support you have given to Career City 2017 to help make it a HUGE success!

You shared your time and talent with the children to improve their lives by helping build their hopes and dreams for their future. You showed compassion and generosity. You were aware of the need to share your skills and knowledge. Boy oh Boy did you ever!!!  900 times!!!  This was our first “all grades inclusive” attempt and it went just like it did last year. Outstanding!

To quote Martin Luther King, Jr.:   “Everybody can be great. Because anybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and your verb agree to serve…. You don’t have to know the second theory of thermodynamics in physics to serve. You only need a heart full of grace.  A soul generated by love. “

We understand that you have many obligations and Ranger Good Works appreciates your being in attendance. Without you, our City would not be complete.

WE look forward to seeing you next year for our Career City 2018.

Thank you, Victoria Ranger

Literacy Changes Our World Initiative at Dillard Elementary

Dillard Elementary School participated in The Florida Department of Education’s 9th annual Literacy Week – Florida from January 23-27th, 2017

“Literacy Changes Our World”

15 Volunteers from our local Fort Lauderdale community joined Ranger Good Works in reading storybooks to Pre-K through  2nd-grade students at Dillard Elementary.  Volunteers spent about 30-45 minutes the classroom.

“The Cow That Went Oink!” and “I name is Yoon” were big hits!

Join us in our year-long literacy campaign at Dillard Elementary. Less than one hour a day once a month could help change a student’s world. Please Click here to volunteer.

Thank you for your continued support!

Ranger Good Works Read For The Record

Read For The Record at Dillard Elementary

On October 27th Victoria Ranger went back to school… as a volunteer at Dillard Elementary School. Ranger participated in the worldwide Jumpstart Read For The Record event by reading The Bear Ate Your Sandwich to eager kindergarteners. Broward Schools had readers volunteer to take part in the biggest read-aloud event in the world.

The Dillard Kindergarteners loved the story telling time. Especially after Mrs. Ranger gave in to read the story a second time around as they enjoyed eating strawberries and blueberries just like the bear ate before going to sleep and embarking on his journey before he found “the sandwich.”

Volunteer at Dillard Elementary

We are asking our community friends to help us make a difference in a student’s life. Join our Volunteer Program.

Helping Hands Program:  Volunteers pitch in and give helping hands by either donating their time at an event or by simply going into a classroom and reading to the young students. Spending less than one hour of your time could make a lifelong impression on a child.

Mentors Program: The purpose of having mentors is to provide disadvantaged children with caring volunteer adult role models to befriend them and spend quality time with them on a regular basis. RGW mentors incorporate tutoring and academic enrichment activities that support student achievement in the classroom and help students meet proficiencies required by Dillard Elementary School.

Guest Speaker Hero Program:  Guest speakers are welcomed into the after-school clubs.  Ranger Good Works recruits talented, goal oriented and successful individuals to go to the school to visit with a plan to excite or inspire the students.  Areas of interest may range from professional to home economics. Examples of speakers have ranged from women computer technologists to race car drivers.
