This annual campaign was launched over a decade ago to highlight the importance of building early literacy and language skills for every child so that all children have the opportunity to enter kindergarten prepared to succeed.”

When you sign up you’ll receive detailed information regarding your assignment.

  • Time of the reading event at Dillard Elementary school is from 8:30 am until about 9:30 am
  • Read to Preschool and Kindergarten students

This year’s Read for the Record book is Quackers, by Liz Wong, a delightful story about a kitten who grows up believing he’s a duck, until the day he meets another kitten. What follows is a sweet tale about understanding, acceptance, and learning it is ok to be whoever you want to be.

We look forward to having you join us for our Read For The Record event.

Ranger Good Works Read For The Record

Read For The Record at Dillard Elementary

On October 27th Victoria Ranger went back to school… as a volunteer at Dillard Elementary School. Ranger participated in the worldwide Jumpstart Read For The Record event by reading The Bear Ate Your Sandwich to eager kindergarteners. Broward Schools had readers volunteer to take part in the biggest read-aloud event in the world.

The Dillard Kindergarteners loved the story telling time. Especially after Mrs. Ranger gave in to read the story a second time around as they enjoyed eating strawberries and blueberries just like the bear ate before going to sleep and embarking on his journey before he found “the sandwich.”

Join us in our year-long literacy campaign at Dillard Elementary.  Click here to volunteer.

Volunteer at Dillard Elementary

We are asking our community friends to help us make a difference in a student’s life. Join our Volunteer Program.

Helping Hands Program:  Volunteers pitch in and give helping hands by either donating their time at an event or by simply going into a classroom and reading to the young students. Spending less than one hour of your time could make a lifelong impression on a child.

Mentors Program: The purpose of having mentors is to provide disadvantaged children with caring volunteer adult role models to befriend them and spend quality time with them on a regular basis. RGW mentors incorporate tutoring and academic enrichment activities that support student achievement in the classroom and help students meet proficiencies required by Dillard Elementary School.

Guest Speaker Hero Program:  Guest speakers are welcomed into the after-school clubs.  Ranger Good Works recruits talented, goal oriented and successful individuals to go to the school to visit with a plan to excite or inspire the students.  Areas of interest may range from professional to home economics. Examples of speakers have ranged from women computer technologists to race car drivers.
