Dillard Elementary Achieves Major Gains in 2025

SUCCESS THROUGH DEDICATION

Gaining an increase in achievement across all content areas in the 2025 school year, including the highest increase in math proficiency in the school district, Dillard Elementary is creating the pathway to success for underprivileged students.

With the support of Ranger Good Works, Dillard Elementary earned a “B” school grade for the 2025-2026 school year.

Dillard Elementary is a Pk-5th grade school led by Principal Lavina Robinson. Ms. Robinson accepted the role as principal of Dillard Elementary as a transition from the role of principal of North Fork Elementary in 2022. She works diligently to promote academic excellence and support a thriving school culture. Ms. Robinson has been serving students in the City of Fort Lauderdale for her entire career. For over 22 years, she has only worked in schools within a 3-mile radius of Dillard Elementary, proving her dedication to her community and commitment to improving the lives of students through education, exposure, and opportunity. After the COVID-19 slide, she feverously worked hard to increase student achievement as well as reinstate and develop extracurricular programs by working in partnership with Ranger Good Works.

Ms. Robinson’s principalship was preceded by Gretchen Atkins-Brown, current principal of North Fork Elementary, and Angela Brown, Executive Director of Ranger Good Works. During Mrs. Brown’s 4-year leadership at Dillard Elementary, she improved the school grade and transformed the school. Mrs. Brown continues to be a great leader and committed partner to Ranger Good Works. Angela Brown dedicated herself to the students of Broward County Public Schools and worked as the Director of Coaching and Development in the Office of Talent Development at Broward County Public Schools. Her responsibility is to make an impact on over 50 schools in similar positions as Dillard.

Dillard Elementary flourished under her leadership and now continues under the direction of Ms. Robinson. Being a partner with a principal who wants to make a significant change from the inside out is our primary focus. Ranger Good Works will continue to invest in Dillard students, teachers, and Principal Lavina Robinson.

Dillard Elementary School is nestled in a low-income residential neighborhood with the highest poverty level in the city of Fort Lauderdale. Limited resources and access to supplemental programs combined with high unemployment rates impact students’ ability to excel in school.

Students at Dillard Elementary are eager to learn and excited to succeed in spite of these setbacks. Ranger Good Works helps to empower and motivate students to overcome obstacles and barriers that they may face in school and at home.

Dillard Elementary has begun a new and improved era of positive change and influence for their students.

DEDICATION AND COMPASSION

TEACHING & INSPIRING STUDENTS

Thanks to the dedication of a compassionate and committed staff, Dillard Elementary influences positive change and success. Working side by side with Dillard, Ranger Good Works has developed programs and events led by school staff to help stimulate students’ ambitions and creativity, immersing them in hands-on experiences with local businesses and industries, as well as arts, music, STEM, and environmental workshops. Staff members work beyond school hours to provide enrichment opportunities for students through clubs and activities sponsored by Ranger Good Works.

Now going on our 11th year, the growth in student participation and positive impact in our programs has been nothing short of amazing and immensely rewarding. According to the State of Florida  School’s Grading system, in 2013 Dillard Elementary was rated as an undocumented “F” school.  The school’s rating has since been elevated to a “B.”

In 2013, Dillard Elementary was removed from State of Florida  School’s lowest 100 schools list. Broward County School District reported that Dillard Elementary’s Grade 3 students received the highest math learning growth and second highest reading learning growth in the district based upon the 2014 FCAT.
