Ranger Good Works & Neiman Marcus Fort Lauderdale Kick-Off Month-Long Love To Give’ Collection Fundraiser

Ranger Good Works hosted the Love to Give fundraiser kick-off on November 15th in partnership with Neiman Marcus at The Galleria at Fort Lauderdale.

More than 150 attendees came out for the affair, which marked the start of a month-long fundraising initiative presented by Ranger Good Works in partnership with Neiman Marcus Fort Lauderdale. From November 15th through December 24, 2016, ten percent of all sales generated by the retailer’s exclusive Love to Give collection benefited Ranger Good Works in support of funding youth arts education and programs at Dillard Elementary School in Fort Lauderdale.

Guests of the event were treated to an exclusive preview of the luxury items featured in this year’s Neiman Marcus Love to Give collection, in addition to outstanding performances by the Dillard Drum Line, Dance Academy, and Choir. Attendees were also able to peruse an array of unique self-portraits of the students on display, created in collaboration with artists at the Young At Art Museum (YAA) who volunteered their time and expertise to work hand-in-hand with the students on the project.

Read For The Record

Read For The Record at Dillard Elementary

On October 27th , Victoria Ranger went back to school – as a volunteer at Dillard Elementary School! Ranger participated in the worldwide Jumpstart Read For The Record event by reading “The Bear Ate Your Sandwich” to eager kindergarteners. Broward Schools had readers volunteer to take part in the biggest read-aloud event in the world.

The Dillard Elementary Kindergarteners loved story telling time! Especially after Mrs. Ranger gave in to read the story a second time, while the students ate strawberries and blueberries just like the bear did before going to sleep and embarking on his journey to find “the sandwich.”

Fifth grade students spent four days and three nights at the Florida Atlantic University Boca Raton Campus.  The students had an opportunity to learn what it is like to be a college student staying in the dormitories, attending classes on campus and eating in the dining hall.  The professors and graduate students at FAU designed a special curriculum for our exceptional Dillard Elementary students.

The amazing Department of Curriculum, Culture and Educational Inquiry created a program just for our students:  STEAM for Social Justice: using Inquiry Skills to Create Changes in Your World. The students were broken down into two groups and gave “Shark Tank Presentations” on June 3rd 2016.

Dr. Corey King, Vice President for Student Affairs gave a nice welcome to visitors there to witness the Pitches & Presentations from the students. The students presented their company and their product/service and fielded questions from the panel of sharks. Sharks included Tony Ash, James Engstrom, Ana Escuder, PHD, Whitney Rawls, and Chief Constance Stanley.

As a result of super team work headed by Dr. Traci P. Baxley, numerous FAU Faculty and students, 8 staff from Dillard Elementary headed by Mrs Angela Brown and funding from our Ranger Good Works donors, the event was an outstanding success!!!

Volunteers are worth their weight in gold. Each volunteer shared their time and talents with the children – and what an outstanding job everyone did! The students really responded to each of our volunteers, and that is due to the volunteers’ patience. The volunteers’ generosity and support exposed the children of Dillard Elementary to the wonderful professional possibilities awaiting them through hard work and studies.

Victoria Ranger and Angela Brown “Life Work Leadership Compassion Tour 2016”

Compassion Tour – Victoria Ranger and Angela Brown presented to the Life Work Leadership Class of 2016

Ranger Technical Resources and Dillard Elementary School were selected by the City of Ft. Lauderdale’s City Manager, Lee Feldman, as the city’s choice for an influential Case Study within their Compassion Tour for the Lifework Leadership of South Florida.  On January 8, 2016 Ms. Ranger and Ms. Brown presented the Ranger Good Works program to over 122 business leaders and city officials, describing how the partnership between the public and private sector has made a positive change by altering the direction of the school.  Dillard Elementary is a Broward County Public School – part of the largest school district in the United States.

District 5 School Board Member Dr. Rosalind Osgood shared with attendees the fact that Ms. Brown had received the Prestigious Caliber Award as “Principal of the Year” for Broward County in April 2015.  Ms. Brown acknowledged Ms. Ranger’s contribution and together, they received a standing ovation for their work in the community.

“The Compassion Tour was intended to engage people’s hearts, provide them with a window to become aware of actual needs within the community and inspire them to become involved!”  Amanda Forman, Program Director said. “Our mission was accomplished. The Ranger-Dillard story and what the team is doing is truly inspiring.”

Ms. Ranger and Ms. Brown’s shared goals are to raise awareness of the “reality of life” for a number of school children in Fort Lauderdale. They continue to encourage those within the community to realize that any act of kindness by one individual to another, especially to children, can make a difference in the world of a child.  They asked those in attendance to be generous and have the courage to lead others by helping any school with their students. There is great opportunity throughout the city of Ft. Lauderdale and everywhere in the United States to provide students with a better educational experience.

Our words of the day…..Compassion, Love and Give… To be continued!

Ranger Good Works presents: HOUR OF CODE 2015

We are preparing for Computer Science Education Week and plan to create a fan-tas-tech event for 2015!

A community partner initiative with Ranger Technical Resources, Citrix Systems, Nova SouthEastern University, Broward College, Merrill Lynch and others.
Once again, Ranger Technical Resources & Ranger Good Works are recruiting friends and community partners to help educate over 800 students from Dillard Elementary School about the importance of Computer Science in an international coding initiative founded by Code.org. We love it when our kids receive the three T’s….time, talent and treasure. Please join our Hour of Code volunteer team this year.  The kids love to see familiar faces. If you can’t join us, tell a friend who you think can.  Our communities continued help in making this a great event is much needed and appreciated.

The Hour of Code will take place at Dillard Elementary on Thursday, December 10, 2015.

  • Responsibilities include:  Sit in two conference calls prior to the Hour of Code at Dillard Elementary.
  • Show up onsite one hour prior to the Hour of Code initiative
  • Participate in classrooms with instruction or help in the classrooms
  • Work with our coordinators and the teachers from Dillard Elementary to create a successful event.
  • YOU do not need to be a programmer to volunteer.  You only need to be able to read and speak to the children.
  • Programmers who volunteer will be assigned to the classrooms where the students are more advanced with coding.

Schedule:

Hour of Code Schedule
8:30AM Volunteers arrive and meet
8:45AM Go to designated locations – Ready Hour of Code
9:00AM – 10:00AM Start Hour of Code in the classrooms
10:15AM Wrap up
10:30AM Volunteers depart

This experience will continue to fill the students treasure chest full of great life experiences. Three years ago we first partnered with Code.org for the Official Hour of Code, a Global Computer Science Education Week initiative to encourage youth to learn basic coding. Over 49 million students around the world participated. As a technology solutions company Ranger Technical Resources contributed by sending mentors to local schools and sponsored an Hour of Code at our corporate office for 40 students.
In 2014 we expanded. Eight hundred students from Dillard Elementary participated in a Computer Science related activity. As you can see the number of students we are encouraging has increased due to our community’s involvement.

In 2015 we will have close to 1000 students enrolled at Dillard Elementary School. We need all of the helping hands we can to keep up the great momentum.  Please join our volunteer team for the Hour of Code on Thursday, December 10th. Click here to sign up.  Thank you for your continued support!
