Literacy Night at Dillard Elementary

literacy night 1

Ranger Good Works had the pleasure of supporting Literacy Night at Dillard Elementary School. Every seat in the auditorium was taken! The Step Team and the Drum-line entertained the entire crowd with their exceptional talents. The energy and enthusiasm in the room was contagious! Our members donated over 1,000 books which were given out to all of the attending families. Our members also donated the costumes that were worn by the pre-kindergarten students and many of the kindergartners.

We are so happy to hear that our efforts have contributed to REAL LIFE IMPROVEMENT for the children of Dillard. This year’s FCAT scores increased across all subjects school-wide: Science from 21% to 27%, Reading from 30% to 39%, Math from 32% to 45%, and Writing from 38% to 51%.

Ranger Super Coders Visited Nova Southeastern University

Dillard Students Visited Nova Southeastern University

Dillard Students Visited Nova Southeastern University

We are excited about our partnership with Nova Southeastern University and support from our community sponsors! We took 40 Ranger Super Coders on a field trip to tour the Graduate School of Computer and Information Science Department. The visit, for many of the students, was their first step onto a college campus. Our Tech Super Hero, Dean Ackerman gave the students a tour of his amazing computer collection, gave a supercharged Tech Talk, and instructed the students on how to build a solar powered robot. Afterword, we stopped off at the University Pit to be charged up with a slice of pizza. Students also toured the Alvin Sherman Library to discover what resources are available to them before heading back to school.

The Heart of Neiman Marcus

On July 19, Neiman Marcus stores across the country partnered local nonprofit charities involved in the arts and helping children. Neiman Marcus Fort Lauderdale in the Galleria Mall partnered with Ranger Good Works, a nonprofit organization that provides volunteer programs and resources for local communities’ most under-resourced populations, to host a shopping event benefiting Dillard Elementary School. Performances took place by Dillard Elementary School students involved in the school groups IMPACT Girls and the D Phi E Stepping Eagles as well as dancers from the Fort Lauderdale Parks Department’s Kuumba Arts Dance Academy. Through Young At Art Museum, Dillard Elementary School students also created butterflies, which are a signature of Neiman Marcus.

TEAMWORK was Ranger Technical Resources’ word of the day this past Saturday at the Heart of Neiman Marcus event held in Fort Lauderdale. Throughout the store you could find our team members lending a helping hand to all of the guests who came out to support Ranger Good Works and Dillard Elementary School. With smiles on our faces, we all had a heartwarming story to share with others about why we enjoy supporting Dillard.

Neiman Marcus opened their doors just for us at 9am, an hour earlier then their usual store hours. This allowed us to connect with our members while doing something exciting – SHOPPING! Not only did the Ranger Tech and Ranger Good Works team raise money by selling over 100 tickets to the event, they put on their networking shoes and gained new community friends and partners!

Ten percent of ALL the merchandise sales were donated to a great cause, the start of an Art Program for 800 deserving Dillard students. Ranger Tech and Ranger Good Works encouraged everyone to “Shop Til’ They Dropped” that day. At the end of the event, TEAMWORK really paid off! Neiman Marcus was so excited to share with us that our goal was exceeded and that Dillard Elementary School would be able to start their Art Program with an incredible amount of money!

KUDOS to Ranger Technical Resources and Ranger Good Works. We did it! WE made it happen because we all have a HEART!

Career City 2014

The U goes to Dillard Elementary

The U goes to Dillard Elementary

On May 7th, 2014, Ranger Good Works brought the “City of Ft. Lauderdale” to the students of Dillard Elementary. Students were able to see firsthand what it feels like to take a walk through a safe and inviting city which had been created just for them. Students learned about various professions and many of our local industries during their walk. They engaged with professionals and had the chance to ask questions in a comfortable environment.  Ranger Good Works is building a Career City for the future of the students of Dillard Elementary.

Ranger Super Coders Club

Ilan with Super Coder

We started a technology club called the Ranger Super Coders. The club was designed for students of all ages to provide a great first experience in computer science and coding. Our volunteers donate their time and talent monthly for one hour. Our goal is to inspire the youth to build self-confidence, be innovative, and dream about their future. Please be sure to check out the Super Coder’s progress by visiting www.rangercoders.com. Thanks to Ranger Technical Resources, the Volunteers and Ranger Good Works for providing the 3T’s!

Click Here to see a cool video of our club.

You can make a BIG difference and educate others by spreading the word about the importance of coding in computer science and by also sharing our video on any of your social media sites. Don’t forget to tag #rangertechnical and #rangergoodworks!

Literacy Night 2013

Literacy Night 2013

Ranger Good Works helped facilitate over 800 book donations which supported numerous families with literacy concerns. This program provided plenty of books for the children and their parents use and build an in home library. As a result, FCAT reading scores are up by 23% in the third grade. We also heard that all of the scores are increasing tremendously! We continued this program with a surprise book donation from Pine Crest School which augmented hundreds more of slightly used books to fill a section of Dillard’s school library.
