Literacy Night 2019 - Ranger Good Works 10

Literacy Night 2019

Literacy Night 2019 at Dillard Elementary with our Ranger Good Works volunteer team was a great success.  We donated many books to help build the Dillard families’ home libraries. The students loved the evening. Their generous hugs and the special sparkle in thankful eyes assured all of us that we had made an impact on their lives.

5th Grade ~ Florida Atlantic University College Tour

Through the RGW, BCPS and FAU partnership, 100 Dillard Students had their chance to see what like being an OWL is. The experiential field trip to FAU provided Dillard Elementary students a glimpse into college life and the college experience. The FAU staff fed the student’s curiosity and showed our students there is a world of opportunity ahead of them if they want to explore. We are hoping College Tours can contribute to shaping student’s minds positively and help them set long-term goals including attending college. A special THANK YOU to FAU for hosting the Dillard Elementary 5th grade with a very special campus visit. This could be the 2025 incoming class of FAU Owls!

Gifts for our students are always needed

Citrix Systems, Ranger Technical Resources and other donations from Ranger Good Works Members helped supply students with holiday gifts, school supplies, clothes, shoes, hygiene products and more. Ongoing donation drives keep our on-campus supply pantry open for business with no price tags. The pantry is located directly on campus to assist Dillard students when something unexpected comes up. A Big thank you goes out to all of the donations made to the Dillard supply pantry.

CODE.ORG – HOUR OF CODE 2018 – RANGER GOOD WORKS #HourofCode

Ranger Good Works/Ranger Technical Resources with 51 Volunteers participated in the International Hour of Code at Dillard Elementary School on December 7, 2018.

We love it when a TECHNOLOGY plan comes together!  Our local community joined together lending many helping hands!  Every classroom filled with up to 24 students,  had a volunteer to work with the teacher and help guide the students through the Hour of Code. Our goal was to spark interest in students from Pre-K through 5th grade to learn about computer coding.  Knowing the computing field has the largest amount of job openings out of all occupations, we are aiming to encourage our students to be a part of the next generation of Technology Professionals. Over 7 million tech job openings exist today.  Can you imagine how many jobs will exist in 2023?

We are happy to report over 850 students successfully completed one of the following coding activities: Code Binary Bracelets Activity, Code Crazy Creatures, Sparks Academy, Make a Flappy Game, Code Combat: Escape the Dungeon, Star Wars: Building a Galaxy with code and code.org dance party!

Computer Science Education Week – Hour of Code designed by Code.org and several nonprofits have impacted the world by engaging with over 100 million people in over 180 countries to learn the 21st Century foundation skills in technology.

We are pleased that Ranger Good Works, in conjunction with its partners,  participated for the 6th year in a row with our local community touching the children of Dillard Elementary.

Great job to all involved! Thank you, Principal Atkins Brown, her faculty and all of the volunteers who participated! #Teamwork! #HourofCode #BrowardCodes #rangergoodworks
